MENINGITIS ACWY

In the UK babies are now vaccinated against Meningitis C at the age of 12 months; this is typically combined with Hib vaccination.  We offer the combined Hib/Meningitis C vaccination called MENITORIX.  The Department of Health introduced a booster of the Meningitis C vaccine which is given from age 14.  The chosen vaccine covers four strains of the disease, A,C,W & Y. These vaccines are called NIMENRIX or MENVEO.  This offers protection to teenagers against strain W in addition to strain C.

Furthermore, Meningitis ACWY vaccine is also used as a travel vaccine for those going to parts of Africa and the Middle East.

Children of any age can be given Meningitis ACWY vaccine.
