Stockholm3 Test: a smarter way to check your prostate health

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, and early detection can make a life-changing difference.
Traditional screening relies heavily on the PSA blood test, which can sometimes miss aggressive cancers or lead to
unnecessary investigations.

At SurreyGP, we are pleased to offer the Stockholm3 test – an advanced blood test
that provides a clearer, more accurate picture of your prostate cancer risk.

What is the Stockholm3 Test?

Stockholm3 is an innovative blood test for men aged 45–74 with a PSA level of 1.5 ng/ml or higher,
and no previous diagnosis of prostate cancer.

It works by combining:

  • PSA plus three additional protein markers
  • A panel of genetic markers (SNPs)
  • Clinical factors, including age and family history

Why is Stockholm3 better than PSA alone?

1. Detects more aggressive cancers earlier

Some aggressive prostate cancers do not cause a significant rise in PSA, particularly in the early stages.

2. Reduces unnecessary biopsies and MRIs

Stockholm3 can help reduce unnecessary biopsies by up to 50%.

3. Clear, personalised recommendations

Your report includes an individual risk score together with advice on the most appropriate next steps.

4. Backed by strong scientific evidence

The test has been validated in studies involving more than 90,000 men and has been used clinically in
Sweden and Norway since 2017.

Who should consider the Stockholm3 Test?

You may benefit from the Stockholm3 test if you:

  • Are a man aged 45–74
  • Have a PSA level between 1.5 and 20 ng/ml
  • Have no previous diagnosis of prostate cancer
  • Want a more accurate assessment of your prostate cancer risk

The test involves a simple blood draw at our clinic. Your GP will review your personalised risk score and discuss the
recommended next steps with you.

What if my risk is high?

If your result shows a higher risk, we would usually recommend MRI scanning and
regular PSA monitoring. We may also advise seeking a consultant urological opinion.

How to arrange your Stockholm3 Test at SurreyGP

Please book a Prostate Health Review. A 30-minute Prostate Health Review costs £185.
If your PSA is greater than 1.5, an additional Stockholm3 test is required,
